A Special Event Tribute!

We have a special event tonight, on top of the usual fresh music fare for the week. As singer/songwriter Gigi Marentette put it, two of Hong Kong's musical soldiers have recently been hospitalized (Guitarist Tommy Ho and Percussionist Robbin Harris). She has offered her musical talent and time to host a special jazzy fundraiser in partnership with us at Peel Fresco, to raise money for their hospital and surgery funds, to try to get them back in commission and out of musical purgatory. Have a normally priced drink, and we'll kick in 30% of the tab to help them get reconstituted at this event.

That aside, here's a look at the week (Jan 25 - Jan 31):

• Monday: Gigi Marentette hosts a special performance for the down and out musos of HK; see below, and drink them back to health (doors open at 6, music starts at 9PM)
• Tuesday: Open mic, level-up your performance (9:30PM)
• Wednesday: The Soul Crusaders brings 60s style organ trio jazz on the keys (9:30PM)
• Thursday: Latin Music rhythms from Chris Polanco and Salsa Caliente, with David Chala and the crew (9:30PM)
• Friday: Witchdoctor brings electric blues and R&B from David Porter, Jim Olsson, and Vic Pumicpic (9:30PM)
• Saturday: Kevin Guffy is back to headline Saturday with his quartet for R&B fused with jazzified blues (10PM)
• Sunday: Chill out, and be chill (8PM)

• Trivia contest rules:
  1. Limit one entry per person.
  2. Any single serving drink off the bar menu may be selected (bottles of wine and champagne are expressly excluded, normal idea of a "single serving" applies here guys ;)

At the moment we're only collecting information from potential applicants that think they'll be up to the (unannounced) standards based on the above. Suffice it to say, it'll be something like "verifiable nontrivial commits to projects with any license recognized by the Open Source Initiative" with the rules subject to change as we work out what seems within the right spirit. Joining does include one free geek drink in addition to the usual discount (ever taste a Blue Screen of Death?).
